A Short Snapshot Of The Jungle

Here is our group trekking through the jungle, with Colin in the foreground. Others are disappearing down the mountainside. This was one of the better tracks we had to walk on, near the beginning of the trek. You can see Colin is holding his bamboo walking stick, and carrying his life jacket.
This is our happy faced group on reaching the top of the second mountain before we began our short decent - which took over one and a half hours.

Here Colin is tanding in front of our 'bed' on the floor of the hut we stayed in on our first night trekking. As you can see, belongings were strewn over the central space of the floor, as there was nowhere else to put your belongings. The mosquito nets were all that separated you from the next bed.

Eating breakfast at the first hut - I think there were at least five dozen hard boiled eggs between the twelve of us, as well as toast and jam. We used the old fashioned metal bowls to eat each meal out of, and had to use the back of chinese soup spoons to spead the butter and jam.
Below you can see the elephants we road, having a bath before we got on board. In the front is the raft on which the four girls travelled to the second camp. All the back packs were loaded on a tripod at the front of the raft (Colin did NOT have to carry his - only his walking stick). The second day, two more rafts like this plus this one carried all twelve of us and our luggage over the rapids and white water.

Here is what some of the rapids and white water looked like that we travelled over on the rafts. It was great fun and one of the things I would like to do again.

Will try and put more piccys on when we have more time later in the tour, but hope these give you a flavour of what we have been up to.
